About Me

I’m a woman on the verge of hitting the Big 30. Most of my young adult life…scratch that, most of my life I have been overweight. So I decided the best therapy for me is to write about my past experiences and my current struggles to date.  Granted some people may say go to a shrink or something…but I’m not about to pay a person an obscene amount of money that cuts you off  so they can give their assessment about you. I already know I’m fucked up, so no need to pay some person with a God complex to tell me that.

So this is the easiest and cheapest way. My intention of this blog, if anyone reads it, is to hope they can understand what we “larger than life” people are going through. There is a stigma about larger people, but the majority of the world doesn’t want to see that. They point and laugh and it just brings our self esteem lower which in the end MAKES US EAT!! I also, want people who are larger than life to know that we have a common bond between us. We understand the pain. We try to reach out to each other but for some the fear of ridicule is too much. That is why I wanted to write this little blog. It’s my form of virtual outreach to other “objects may appear bigger in the mirror” people.

On Feb. 6th, 2008, I made a drastic change in my life. I underwent Gastric Bypass. It was a scary experience because I never even had the chance to say goodbye to may parents before I went into the Operating Room. I could have died without even saying I love you to the people in my life. It’s a scary thought and even in this very moment of my seclusion away from people…I still get teary eyed about that moment.

But now is the time to look back and deal with the self hate  and let it go. I hope whomever reads this will feel a little better from my words that I write. There may be some laughs, some moments of complete and utter feeling of wanting to give up, but there will definitely be stories from someone who has such a pretty face…

I had the surgery eight years ago and it was the best choice I’ve ever made. Good luck on your journey. I’m glad to have found your blog.
